• Constipation

  • Constipation is bowel movements of small amounts of hard, dry, and usually fewer than three times a week. It’s generally a difficult and painful bowel movement. Some people also feel bloated, uncomfortable, and sluggish.

  • Signs and Symptoms

    • Infrequent, difficult passage of stools (fewer than three bowel movements a week)
    • Sudden decrease in frequency of bowel movements
    • Stools harder than normal
    • Bowel still feels full after bowel movement
    • Bloated sensation
  • At Irvine Acupuncture we use acupuncture and herbs to effectively treat constipation. Within 3-6 treatments you should have more regular and softer bowel movements.

One study conducted at the China Academy of Traditional Medicine in Beijing showed that acupuncture was “very effective in the treatment of diseases of the digestive system” with most patients benefiting from the treatment. (1)
